Andrea Boyd, LMT
Hi there!
Actual photo coming soon…
but my general vibe is definitely books & tea.
My name is Andrea, and I’m a massage therapist and movement instructor on a mission to spread calm in a world that seems determined to make us feel anything but.
I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and over-stressed. How that tension sits in the body and leads to chronic pain and even recurring injuries. I thought it was all just part of being a human in the modern world. I walked it off, pushed through, and ignored what my body was screaming at me on a daily basis for years.
It wasn’t until I began a regular yoga practice and started receiving massage that I was able to start listening to my body. Through that continued act of listening, moving intentionally, and receiving bodywork, I gradually found that I was able to start letting go of deeply held and stored up tension to find more peace and comfort in my daily life - both physically and mentally.
Massage and yoga aren’t miracle cures for everything ailing us, but I have found that learning to be present in my body has made me a better human. I’m less reactive and more responsive. I have more compassion for the people around me. I know it’s ok to prioritize my body’s needs - something women can often forget in the busy-ness of caring for others (so just in case you need a reminder today, it’s ok to prioritize your body’s needs!).
It’s my honor to serve my clients and to help more women take some much-needed time for themselves.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
After 15+ years at a desk job working in finance & operations, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a massage therapist. I attended Georgia Massage School, and graduated in spring of 2020 (just in time for a pandemic - and perimenopause). Since then, I’ve completed additional trainings in Ayurvedic Head Massage, Prenatal Massage, Cupping Massage, and Acupressure/Meridian Massage. My Rooted & Wise Menopause Massage is based on my training in Wise Woman Menopause Massage with Claire Marie Miller, with additional inspiration from the work of Sharon Blackie (author of If Women Rose Rooted and Hagitude).
I’ve been a yoga teacher since 2016, specializing in Yin, Yoga Nidra, and Restorative Yoga. I also teach Hot HIIT Pilates, which is one of my favorite ways to really move the body and sweat it out. I teach group classes at Fuel Hot Yoga in Athens, GA, where I’m also the studio manager. Come take a class with me!

I’ve found that the body is generally more responsive to a less aggressive approach, and that going ham on your hamstrings is likely to send your nervous system (and muscles) into protective mode rather than encourage them to release. I love to use neuromuscular techniques, stretch, trigger point work, and other modalities to address issues in a therapeutic way rather than trying to beat them into submission. It’s kinder to your body, kinder to mine, and helps you get that calm, balanced, post-massage chill that we all need more of! So if you’re looking for more intense pressure all around, I might not be the therapist for you.
If you like deeper work, give Cupping Massage a try! Cupping Massage can access tissue up to 4” deep from the surface of the skin, and is highly effective for those chronically “stuck” areas in the body.

I have chosen to focus on and have taken continuing education courses specific to women’s wellness and the role of massage in women’s wellness at various stages of life. My services are open to anyone who is currently experiencing or who will experience menopause transition, or who identifies as a woman. Nonbinary and trans clients are welcome here!

Services are gratuity free, so the price you see is the price you pay. This makes it easier for you to budget for massage as part of your wellness care and gets rid of all that “how much should I tip?” anxiety when you’re supposed to be nice and relaxed after your session.
I’m a one-woman operation, and I price my services in a way that feels fair and adequate for me without additional gratuities. That being said, PLEASE TIP when you see a massage therapist at a spa or other multi-therapist space - they rely on tips as part of their income.

I hope so, because I’d love to help! I offer a limited number of sliding scale/barter appointments each month to make massage care more accessible. Please reach out so we can chat more about your needs.

I don’t use social media personally, and choose to carry that into my business as well. I deleted my personal Facebook in 2016 and then Instagram in 2020. It all just felt like too much noise, and instead of feeling more connected I just felt overwhelmed.
I am grateful for all of my amazing clients and if you enjoy your service I hope you’ll tell a friend - preferably via the “old-fashioned” way of your choosing (bonus points if you have a carrier pigeon). And if you don’t enjoy your service, I hope you’ll tell me so I can try to make it right!
